Terms of Service

Last updated September 5, 2026

The rules for using Amux: account responsibility, billing, acceptable use and limits of liability.

By using Amux, you agree to these terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

What the service is

Amux is an LLM API gateway. The platform neither trains nor hosts models; it forwards requests to upstream providers according to your configuration and unifies billing and observability. The actual capability, availability, and output quality of a model are determined by its provider.

Accounts and keys

You need an account to obtain API keys. A key is your identity: anyone holding it can call in your name and incur charges. Treat it like a password, and revoke it in the console the moment it leaks.

Calls and charges arising from a leaked key are the account holder's responsibility. The platform provides revocation, disabling, and usage alerts to limit the damage, but upstream costs already incurred cannot be reversed.

Billing

  • Inference is billed at the provider's own price and we take no cut — you get the rates we negotiated
  • Billing is prepaid: you top up, and calls draw down the balance
  • If your client disconnects mid-stream, what was already generated is still billed — that upstream cost has already been incurred
  • Failed attempts during routing retries are not billed; we absorb them. Failed image and video jobs are not charged
  • Unspent paid credit can be refunded within 24 hours of a successful top-up, less the payment processor's fee actually charged on that top-up (Stripe's standard rate is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, so small top-ups carry a higher effective rate); promotional and subscription credit cannot. Full rules and a worked example on the refunds page

Acceptable use

You are responsible for what you send through Amux, and you agree to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Comply with the usage policy of whichever provider you call — we are a conduit; your obligations to the upstream still stand
  • Not generate content that infringes others' rights, endangers people, or is prohibited by law
  • Not attempt to bypass quotas, disrupt the service, or probe the system without authorization

Violations may result in service restriction or termination. In serious cases, related fees are not refunded.

Availability

The platform works to keep the service available and to fail over to a healthy provider when one degrades. A formal SLA is not currently offered. Upstream outages, rate limits, and policy changes are outside the platform's control.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to your inputs and outputs. The Amux software, interface and documentation are ours. Third-party marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the services they provide.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits or lost data; our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you actually paid in the three months preceding the event.

Termination

You may stop using the service and request account closure at any time. On closure, unspent paid credit can be refunded per the refunds page; promotional and subscription credit are not refundable.

The platform may terminate service for serious breach of these terms. In that case, related fees are not refunded.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change we update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we give advance notice by email or in the console. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
